Easter

Some Easter moments from days past (though the picture of RES and PEB may not be an Easter photo – it just brought me joy).

Easter Joy (email from James Sweeney)

I remember Easter as a joyful time ( maybe not always for Mom)
New shoes from Szabos, clothes at Halle’s – perhaps a hamburger/ shake at that diner with the train
Hidden baskets that sometimes made your cry if you couldn’t find it fast enough
Big chocolate Easter bunnies
Mom’s cougan on Easter morning – you know the cheese one
The smell of hyacinths or some spring flower
Grandma Pearl and whatever cake she brought
Andy Macklin
CAC for dinner- Tommy picking the pineapple – Eddie getting left behind- Aunt Anne Marie’s family
Corsages on all the women and girls
But most of all I remember being with you all
Have a Joyful Easter day
Jim

From Mary Brigid
I was just thinking of all these memories and longing for the past. Easter has such wonderful memories of a true family event with all the emotions and traditions of our family. The corsages were such a treat and I recall receiving one but never the orchids. They were for the grown women. Mytral (spelling?) included. I miss the regalia and formality of it all. Except for weddings you don’t see the joyful pomp any more. And it wasn’t a wealth thing. It was wearing your best and joyful clothes all together and sharing a meal. Who could forget the CAC. The only place I saw a black person other than on TV. Anyhow, I treasure Easter memories and all of you.
