Final Four

We move on to the Final Four with mixed emotions. Despite intensive investigations and exhaustive inquiries, the allegations of COLLUSION resulting from their bracket submissions have thus far failed to stick on the slippery Eileen and Greg. If you recall, their brackets were suspiciously submitted in a clandestine meeting when it would have been far easier to electronically send them via email. Clearly their efforts to influence the humble organizers of this renowned March Madness pool have won them favor. We go into these final games with Eileen holding the lead and Greg drafting in second beating off any legitimate challenge from below. Not since the exploits of Bonnie and Clyde have we witnessed a more insidious couple join together by their blind passion for victory. But will the fortunes of battle shake this alliance? Will Greg move to seek the gold crown for himself? Will Eileen discard Greg once his utility has serve its purpose?

And what of the tenacious run by John Sweeney, the clairvoyant soothsayer of Ardoon. He has risen to third place with momentum that may take him into the final rounds as a legitimate challenge to the couple from the cliffs of Edgewater. We can all wish him luck.

Then there is poor Jean Pekoc. Proud of her allegiance to Kentucky but now sadden by their untimely demise. Does Jean have anything held in reserve? Can she still make a last desperate run to the finals?

Again, all are surprised by the showing of the “middle weights”, Catherine, Charlie and sweet Layla. Each taking his or her own route to the Finals, but, sadly, none will likely find their way to the winners circle. Remember this is journey not a destination.

But alas, poor  little Jimmy Sweeney. His over reliance on his adopted Michigan has proven to be his Achilles heel. The gods have taken their revenge and brought his over inflated ego crashing into depths of bottom of the pool. Many foresaw this tragic demise though Jim ignored their heartfelt warnings.

And finally the rest. Enjoy the final games knowing that there is always next year.

John
